An audition is the result of our efforts in pitching you to an agent, casting director, advertising agency, producer, director, writer or a friend who has a friend who needs an actor. We will receive all the information that you will need to attend the audition. This will include time, location, wardrobe, character description, information about the job, who you will be meeting with and anything you need to prepare. Auditions are the actor's opportunity to express themselves and share their talent.

A Go-See or Casting is a term used in Print. It is an opportunity for the model to meet with a client for a possible print booking.

An Avail or First Refusal (a.k.a. 1st or 2nd option) is a term used by casting directors. When you are put on avail or First Refusal, it means that you are on the short list of actors being considered for the job.

A Book-out/ Book-in is a term used by talent reps for actors they submit often. Book-out means the talent is unavailable for auditions and bookings. Book-in means that you are once again available for auditions and bookings. This is very important for our office. Emailing this info is best so that we can log your book-out/in dates.

Body Conscious dress is a term usually used in commercials. It means the actor must wear clothing that reveal their physique.

A callback is a term for a second, third audition or final. Remember, each time you are called back you want to do what you did that caused them to call you back in the first place; only tighter and stronger. It is wise to jot down quick notes to yourself right after each audition. This will help you recreate that performance at a callback

A hold is a term used by casting directors when they have expressed concrete interest in booking you or you have actually been booked for the job. This means you must free up the days you are on hold.  Under SAG regulations, a holding fee can be offered or negotiated.

A Meet & Greet (a.k.a. Generals) is an interview. It is a meeting that has been arranged between you and an industry professional (most likely a casting director or an agent) to see what your look and personality is really like in consideration for a potential professional relationship.

A Pre-Screen is basically an audition for an audition. Casting sets up an audition with an actor unfamiliar to their office to see if they have the appropriate talent necessary to audition for a specific role. At a regular audition, your talent is assumed. There, they check to see if your essence matches the character. A pre-screen should be treated as seriously as a regular audition, if not more so.
