TV + Film Audition Technique

   You are cast within the first 5 seconds you walk in the door. Your audition is your opportunity to change their minds or confirm their decision. Learn the techniques that working TV & Film stars use to book their auditions.

   A casting director's job is to remember names & faces. You have one chance to make a first impression. Make it a good one.

   The visual nature of a TV & Film audition requires a specific set of tools unique to that medium. This workshop provides you with a proven technique to ensure that you pop at every audition.

 

This workshop includes but not limited to:

  • Overview the audition process and the players involved.

  • Identifying your brand in the marketplace.

  • Enhancing your individual acting strengths and tips on how to overcome some of your acting weaknesses.

  • A solid technique you can use to analyze an on camera script using TV & film sides.

  • Tips to help you make quick and effective choices.

  • Tips to make you appealing to the viewer.

Secret to Booking Commercials

   TV Commercials is the one area in the business that is completely open to new actors because of its constant need for a fresh faces.

   The problem is that in commercials, you get the details only after you walk in for the audition. This uncertainty causes much anxiety for many and often, the best acting choices come to you on your subway ride home after the audition.

   Learn how to analyze each commercial so that you can make confident acting choices and book the job. The class covers everything from cultivating a marketable look to demystifying the audition process to attracting agents. It helps you attack specific styles such as: MOS, film style, sit com and character.

Meisner Scene Study

In a business as unpredictable as this, the one element an actor can rely on is their ability to act. This Intensive provides the actor with a solid foundation for all medium: from TV to live Theatre; utilizing imagination rather than recall to tell the story.

Using Meisner based exercises such as Repetition, Independent Activity and Emotional Preparation, the actor develops the skills for living truthfully in an imaginary situation. In addition, this class teaches the actor how to apply their newly developed instrument to bringing the written text to life. 

 

Perfect for actors of all levels, Many directors, writers and producers prefer to work with actors with a Meisner background. It is an efficient way to deliver results in a brief amount of time.

 

No matter what direction one takes in life, it's important to have a solid way of getting there. For the actor who is truly serious about a career in acting, they cannot afford to miss this rare opportunity.

 Sanford Meisner is one of the charter members of the Group Theatre who set out to create his own "Method" of training actors. Today, the Meisner technique is widely used & much preferred by actors who must bring the text to life quickly and fully. Notable students include: James Caan, Steve McQueen, Robert Duvall, Gregory Peck, Bob Fosse, Diane Keaton, Jon Voight, Jeff Goldblum, Grace Kelly, Tony Randall and Sydney Pollack

Date: On Tuesdays, starting 9/28/2010. Free 1 hour Intro session on 9/21/2010. 

Time: 6:30-9:30pm each week

Rate: $140/month - 12 week course. 

Note: One hour make up classes is mandatory for nay missed classes. (Make up classes must be taken within 2 weeks of the missed class. Schedule of the make up classes is flexible.)
